Theo Matoff

Theo Matoff grew up in Vancouver Canada, before studying architecture and art at the University of Southern California. During his military service in Paris, he attended the ateliers of André l'Hote and Ossip Zadkine, while drawing at La Grande Chaumière. He completed a Doctorate in Architecture at the University of Florence, also attending studios at the University of Fine Arts. 

 

After teaching architecture at the University of Manitoba, Theo came to England as a senior lecturer at Leeds Polytechnic School of Architecture. Later he became Head of Schools of Architecture at Plymouth and Leicester, while continuing to paint. When Theo retired from academia he moved with his wife Sue to Bushey Heath in Hertfordshire where he built his studio. 

 

Theo's work has been exhibited in group exhibitions and one man shows in London, Tunbridge Wells, Plymouth, Glasgow, St Ives and Wiesbaden Germany. His work is also in private collections in Canada, France, Germany, Italy and the United States of America as well as in the United Kingdom.
